Sinsusitis

Sinusitis is a condition where the tissue lining the sinuses gets swollen or inflamed. Sinusitis is also called as Rhinosinusitis. In simple words, sinuses are the empty spaces within the bones in between the eyes, behind the cheekbones, and in between the forehead. They form mucus, which tends to keep the inside of your nose damp.

Sinusitis is a very common disease in India with more than 10 million cases per year. It is a disease which is very easily diagnosable or even self diagnosable and can be treated within a time span of 4 to 12 weeks.

 The inflammation can kick off when the viruses or bacteria infect your sinuses (mostly when you catch cold), and begin to increase in numbers. Due to the body’s reaction to the inflammation, it causes the sinus lining to swell, congesting the passages that drain the sinuses. This eventually causes the mucus and pus to fill up the hollow spaces of the nose and sinuses .
